How to Pixelate an Image (Censor & Mosaic)

Pixelation is the classic way to hide license plates, faces, addresses, and other sensitive details in screenshots before sharing them.

Use a larger block size for stronger censorship — small blocks can sometimes still be reverse-engineered.

A moderate pixel effect creates a retro 8-bit or mosaic aesthetic popular in game art and avatars.

The whole image is pixelated; to blur instead of blocking, the Blur tool gives a softer look.
